Days 27, 28, 29, 30, 31
Moab....what a place. And what could make such a freak of natural beauty even more unusually inspiring? Exotic birds flying free in the open air...no really. And so, this is what I spent the final week and half of my trip doing. As many of you know, now that I've left the circus I'm now a hired gun (if my gun were a camera) and freelance full time. I've been doing a lot of editing and shooting for BirdTricks.com and on this occasion it worked perfectly that I would meet up with their Freestyle Flyers Club on my way back to Seattle....what an amazing experience! I have done projects involving their birds before, but to see these amazing creatures fly against such a stunning backdrop...well, it's an impression that will be with me for a long long time. Each day we would go to a location (I would ride of course) and then be there most of the day...we ended up flying at 2 locations in Moab and then hiking to a 3rd (turns out Sidi boots aren't too bad on the trail). And of course, the best parts of the day for me were always the ride out and back! Delicious twisties framed by rusty red canyon walls with a ceiling of intense blue covering it all...add the hum of the tuned Desmo beneath me along with the grin on my face, and you have a pretty good picture of what heaven on this earth feels like.Next up...White Sands New Mexico
